Pell Grant Overview
What Is a Pell Grant?
The federal Pell Grant helps students who have the greatest financial need. Eligible
students can receive as much as $5,550. Most colleges participate in the Pell Grant
program, and Pell eligibility is a prerequisite for many other federal aid programs.
Pell Grant Eligibility and Award Amounts
The Pell Grant is awarded to undergraduate students with the highest financial need.
Eligibility for the Pell Grant is based on the college's published
cost of attendance (COA),
your
expected family contribution (EFC),
and your enrollment status.
Applying for a Pell Grant
Apply for a Pell Grant by completing a
federal student aid application (FAFSA).
If you are eligible, the colleges that accept you will automatically include the
Pell Grant in your student aid award.
